Caiques

Caiques are medium-small parrots from the Amazon basin. Black-headed and white-bellied caiques are the two species most commonly kept as companions.

Caiques are energetic, bold and playful. They are known for hopping, wrestling with toys and rolling on their backs to play.

• Striking black or orange cap with a creamy-white belly
• Bright green wings and golden-orange legs and flanks
• Stocky, athletic build
• Very active — they love to bathe and play

Caiques need lots of toys, out-of-cage time and supervised play. Their high energy means they thrive with families ready for an interactive bird.

A quality pellet base with fresh vegetables and fruit is a commonly recommended diet. Ask about the food your bird is currently eating.
